Like Barnabas

SCRIPTURE
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. 36Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), 37sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet. (Acts 4:32-37)

OBSERVATION
This seems to be a picture of the early church in action. As a result of the resurrection of Jesus, the Jesus followers made sure that the needy people among them had help.

APPLICATION
Maybe we ought to reclaim this WAY of living in our day. Yesterday was Noah's 9th birthday. He wanted to end his day at Urban Restoration to put food in grocery bags and hand them out to the needy in Charlotte. We handed out 138 bags of groceries and we were able to tell/show lots of people that Jesus loves them and so do we. Thank you, Noah, for sharing your day like that.

PRAYER
Lord, I am humbled by my own son (who was a little like Barnabas yesterday) who gave something he had (his birthday) to help others.
