Stand in the gap

9-4-08

SCRIPTURE:
Ezekiel 22:30 I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but found none.

OBSERVATION:
This is pretty disappointing and sad. Reading through Ezekiel you get the sense that God has put up with a lot from His people. Time and time again, they have turned away from the Life God called them to live among the nations. They were blessed in order to be a blessing to those around them. So God judges His people harshly. In the midst of His judgments, we find this verse where God indicates that if just one person who would be willing to help secure the wall and stand before Him in the gap on behalf of the land. This would have been enough for God. One person, willing to fully follow God and stand before Him on behalf of others. I really want to be that kind of man. I want to secure the spiritual walls around my family, my church and my community. I want to stand before God, regularly, on behalf of the people in the land in prayer.

APPLICATION:
Part of my motivation for doing the daily habit of Life Journal, is so that I can find myself consistently in God's Word and Praying on behalf of His people. So I journey onward. This does not come easy for me, but the more I do it, the more I look forward to my daily time with my Divine Mentor.

PRAYER:
Thank you, Father, for the opportunity to be that man who stands before you on behalf of Your people. Have mercy on us. Remember us. Continue to bless us, for we are grateful. We want to be a blessing to those around us.
